Re-Shaping the Future

I was asked to review national developments since the publication of the report “Shaping The Future” which I authored for the National Science Foundation in 1996.  One of the major recommendations of that report was to encourage learning science and mathematics by doing science and mathematics, and the implications of that recommendation are echoed in much that has been learned in the intervening years about how people learn and how teachers and curricula can help that learning.
