IBL in a History of Mathematics Course

At James Madison University, Mathematics 415 : The History of Mathematics, is a required course in the curriculum taken by majors who intend to certify for teaching mathematics at the secondary level.  Because of the commitment to history, I was not comfortable with my usual “here are the axioms, here are the definitions, here are the problems; get it done”.  Yet, particularly for this audience, I felt the obligation to make the pedagogy student-centered.  In this talk, I will give my plans for the course and discuss how the course evolved within those plans.
